Role Context:

The Senior Full Stack Engineer sits at the intersection of data, backend engineering, and applied AI, supporting both our core tutoring platform and our recently launched AI product, called Cluey+ (plus.clueylearning.com.au)

You'll play a key role in owning and evolving our data pipelines, while also building scalable backend systems and AI-powered features that will shape the future of our platform.

This is primarily an individual contributor role, with the opportunity to influence technical direction and mentor others as the product scales.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Engineering

• Own and evolve data pipelines from core systems (including Salesforce) into our data warehouse (Snowflake)

• Support and improve reporting workflows and data visualisation tooling

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to refine and improve data models

• Ensure reliability, scalability, and quality of data systems

Backend Engineering

• Design and build scalable backend services (primarily Node.js / TypeScript)

• Contribute to system architecture and technical decisions

• Work across a modern AWS-based infrastructure (serverless + EC2-based systems)

AI Engineering

• Build and integrate LLM-powered features using models such as Gemini and Anthropic

• Design and implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems

• Contribute to the development of our AI tutoring product and broader AI initiatives

• Leverage modern AI tools to improve development speed and capability

Frontend

• Contribute to React-based frontend when required (not a primary focus)

Tech Environment

• Backend: Node.js, TypeScript (polyglot mindset encouraged)

• Cloud: AWS (Lambda, S3, Step Functions, EC2 and beyond)

• Data: Snowflake, Salesforce integrations, BI/reporting tooling

• AI: LLM integrations (Gemini, Anthropic), RAG architectures

• Approach: Modern stack, fast-moving team, pragmatic engineering

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience as a Senior Backend or Full Stack Engineer

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS across both serverless and traditional infrastructure

• Experience working with data pipelines and data warehouses (Snowflake strongly preferred)

• Proven experience building LLM-powered applications, including RAG systems

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals (APIs, system design, scalability)

• Ability to work across the stack and pick up new technologies quickly

• Experience integrating with Salesforce

• Familiarity with BI or data visualisation tools (e.g. AWS QuickSight)

• Exposure to edtech or similar domains

• Experience working in fast-moving, product-focused teams
