We're looking for an experienced Senior Quality & Automation Engineer who loves solving complex challenges, embraces AI and automation, and wants to make a real impact.

This isn't a role where you'll simply execute test scripts. You'll have the opportunity to own our quality strategy, build intelligent automation frameworks and influence how we deliver technology at scale.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to our Head of Technology, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our web applications, including Cluey+, are reliable, secure, scalable and deliver exceptional user experiences.

Working alongside our developers and business stakeholders, you'll champion a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility.

You'll combine hands-on engineering with strategic thinking, leveraging modern automation tools and AI to help us release faster, smarter and with confidence.

What You'll Be Doing

Own and champion quality

  • Shape and drive our testing strategy across web applications, APIs and integrations.

  • Partner with developers and product stakeholders to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Influence release readiness through meaningful testing insights, quality metrics and risk assessments.

  • Continuously improve our testing processes, tools and automation coverage.

Build intelligent test automation

  • Design, develop and maintain robust automated testing frameworks using tools such as Playwright and TypeScript.

  • Harness AI-powered tools to accelerate test creation, maintenance and defect analysis.

  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket.

  • Test complex integrations across Salesforce, MuleSoft, AWS and third-party platforms.

Make our platforms stronger

  • Lead performance and load testing to ensure our platforms can handle peak demand.

  • Conduct security testing aligned with OWASP standards and work with developers to address vulnerabilities.

  • Deliver seamless experiences through cross-browser, mobile and accessibility testing.

  • Test real-time learning experiences, including live classrooms, audio, video and session recordings.

Explore the future of AI testing

  • Develop testing approaches for AI and LLM-powered features.

  • Build automated evaluations to assess AI accuracy, consistency, reliability and safety.

  • Explore emerging AI testing tools and techniques to continuously improve engineering efficiency.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in software quality engineering, including at least 3 years building test automation.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright, TypeScript or similar modern automation frameworks.

  • Experience testing APIs, integrations and databases, including REST APIs and SQL.

  • Practical experience with performance testing tools such as k6, JMeter or Gatling.

  • Knowledge of security testing practices, including OWASP Top 10 and tools such as OWASP ZAP or Burp Suite.

  • Experience with cross-browser and mobile testing platforms such as BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.

  • Experience embedding automated testing into agile development and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools for test automation and evaluating AI or LLM-powered functionality.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the confidence to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with AWS, Salesforce or MuleSoft.

  • Exposure to React, PostgreSQL or cloud-based applications.

  • Experience testing real-time audio, video or online learning platforms.

  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility testing.

  • Experience in EdTech, SaaS or subscription-based businesses.

  • A relevant degree or industry certification such as ISTQB.

About Cluey Learning

We make learning support accessible and convenient so that tutoring can be booked at a time that suits each child’s schedule. Learning sessions take place live and online via our learning platform, which means students can log in from the comfort of home and work with their expert tutor without interrupting the family schedule.

All of our content is mapped to the Australian National Curriculum and is based on the unique learning needs of each individual. In this way, Cluey programs cover the topics each student is learning in class and specifically addresses each child’s challenges. All sessions are recorded and can be re-watched for future reference, and parents can see what their child has learned.
